Halloween Crack

Ingredients

- 2 to 2 ½ sleeves of saltine crackers

- 1 cup unsalted butter

- 1 cup brown sugar

- Chocolate chips (and any combination of toppings you like: peanut butter, butterscotch, candies, pretzels, nuts, etc.)

- 13x18-inch half-sheet baking pan

 Instructions

1. Melt the butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.

2. Line an 18x13-inch baking tray with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Arrange the saltine crackers on the tray side by side, with no spaces between them.

3. Pour the butter-sugar mixture evenly over the crackers.

4. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 5-6 minutes or until the crackers absorb the mixture.

5. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top, using enough to cover the crackers. Spread out the melted chocolate as evenly as possible.

6. While the chocolate is still warm and melty, add your choice of toppings.

7. Place the tray in the refrigerator or freezer for 10-20 minutes until everything is set.

8. Once completely set and cool, break the toffee into pieces and store them in an airtight container. Enjoy!
