Mardi Gras is always on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. The day before Mardi Gras is know as Shrove Monday or Lundi Gras.

Here is SWLA, the kiddos get out of school for Mardi Gras, so today on KPLC Midday I shared some kiddo friendly recipes. The temperature today is unseasonably cold, so I shared my white chocolate hot cocoa recipe Mardi Gras Style.

2 CUPS WHOLE MILK

2 CUPS HEAVY CREAM

2 TABLESPOONS CREAM CHEESE ,SOFTENED

2 TEASPOONS VANILLA EXTRACT

PINCH OF CINNAMON

12 OUNCES WHITE CHCOLATE CHIPS

GREEN, PURPLE AND GOLD SPRINKLES

Combine whole milk, heavy cream, cream cheese, vanilla, cinnamon and white chocolate chips in a medium sized, heavy bottom saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring slowly, keep an eye on it as not to burn it. When chips are melted, add purple food coloring until desired color of purple is reached.

Pour hot cocoa in mugs. Finish with whipped cream and Mardi Gras colored sugar.
